Slice

In American usage, a single wedge cut from a large pie and sold on its own — and by extension the whole counter-service trade built around that ('a slice joint', 'grabbing a slice'). The unit of sale, not just the shape: a New York slice is a specific product with an expected size, reheat and fold, not merely one-eighth of a pizza.

Common misuse
Assuming slice sale is universal. In Naples the convention is a whole pizza per diner, and buying a single slice is not the norm.
