Muzzarella

Rioplatense Spanish · pronounced moo-sah-REH-lah

Both the cheese and, by extension, the default pizza in an Argentine pizzería — 'una muzzarella' orders a whole cheese pizza. The spelling change records a real divergence: Argentine muzzarella is applied in a far thicker layer than Italian mozzarella, and the cheese rather than the base is the defining component.
