Bianca
Italian · pronounced bee-AHN-kah
A pizza made without tomato. In Rome, 'pizza bianca' most often means the plain olive-oil-and-salt bread sold by weight in bakeries, closer to focaccia than to a topped pizza; elsewhere in Italy and in the United States a 'white pizza' usually means one with cheese and other toppings but no tomato sauce. The two are genuinely different dishes sharing a name.
